The Life and Times of Larry Munson

"Mr. College Football", Tony Barnhart was at Miller Brothers recently to sign copies of his latest book that he co-authored with Larry Munson. Included with the book is a CD of Larry Munson's 10 greatest calls. You don't have to be a member of the Bulldog Nation to appreciate this book and it will make great gifts for Christmas.

For 43 years (1966–2008), Larry Munson was the legendary football radio voice for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. But on September 22, 2008, at the age of 86, Larry announced that it was time to step aside from the one job he loved more than any other in his remarkable career. For decades publishers have been trying to get Larry to write a book about his life. He always declined, saying he had neither the time nor the patience and even asking, “Who would care?” Well, college football fans everywhere care, and today they are celebrating because Larry is finally ready to tell his incredible story.

The 2009 season marks Tony Barnhart's 33rd as a college football reporter for the Internet, radio, and television. Barnhart covered college football for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for 24 years and continues to write the popular Mr. College Football blog for ajc.com. An author of four books on college football, Barnhart hosts his own weekly television show, The Tony Barnhart Show and is in his fifth season as a regular contributor to the College Football Today show on CBS. You can learn more about Atlanta resident Barnhart at www.tonybarnhartshow.com.

If you were not able to attend the book signing, you can purchase book(s) by phone. We still have a limited number of autographed books available and would be happy to handle this for you.

Miller Brothers is the Only Place in Georgia Where You Can Buy JB Hill Boots

J.B. Hill Boot Company brought a huge selection of boots to choose from at our trunk show. You can tell a lot about a person's personality by the type of boots they wear. These boots are custom made in Texas and the company's rep, David Chiles takes over a dozen measurements of each foot to insure a proper fit. These boots are not just for men; women need to check out the specialty mules and boots for themselves.

He describes Miller Brothers as "more than a store, it's an experience." His customers have taken notice and so have Atlanta style editors.

The AJC photographed Rich at his restaurant in Vinings and at Miller Brothers store in Buckhead. Did anyone recognize our rear patio in the photo?

Alton Brown - "He's Just Here for the Clothes"

Robby, Alton Brown and Greg
at Miller Brothers

Alton Brown, chef and host of Good Eats on the Food Network, took time out of his busy schedule to visit Miller Brothers to do some shopping. He loves the Colonel Littleton messenger bag he found here.

Alton was in for a fitting in preparation for his Good Eats Live Anniversary Show being held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre this Saturday. Good Eats is celebrating ten years and over 200 episodes. Alton not only writes and produces the shows but also stars in each offbeat episode.

Alton likes to dress in character and enlisted the help of one of Miller Brothers' tailors to fit his Colonel suit. A white-clad Southern gentleman based on Colonel Sanders, Colonel Bob Boatwright demonstrates traditional Southern recipes such as mint juleps and upside-down cake.

To see more of Alton Brown, check out his website www.altonbrown.com or Good Eats on the Food Network www.foodnetwork.com/alton-brown. The show is smart and entertaining, much like Alton himself.

Miller Brothers Takes Your Breath Away

When customer loyalty experts, Chip Bell and John Patterson, were looking for organizations that create exciting customer experiences for their new book, they featured Miller Brothers. Their book is titled Take Their Breath Away: How Imaginative Service Creates Devoted Customers.

Bell and Patterson explain that the key to a successful enterprise is value-added service, but the secret to great customer service is surprising customers with a "value-unique" experience. Take Their Breath Away provides ideas and insights for all who want to create a stunning, mind-blowing customer experience. This is not about a delightful "wow;" it's about an unexpected "whoa!"

CNBC's Jane Wells featured the book and Miller Brothers in her article "Spend Less, Make More." Wells asked Bell and Patterson for a dozen real life cases and Miller Brothers was the first one mentioned.

Robby and Greg Miller were commended for "listening to their customers and incorporating those ideas into the design of their store. The focus on comfort does not stop with design and decor."

Robby and Greg are proud to be included in this book in the company of Ritz-Carlton, USAA, Universal Orlando, MicroSoft and Starbucks.

Author John Patterson lives in Atlanta and is founder and President of Progressive Insights located on W. Paces Ferry Rd. With over twenty years of leadership experience, his consulting practice focuses on helping organizations create and sustain incredible customer experiences that lead to greater growth and profits. Personally, we know John from the Tophat and UGA soccer fields where he and his wife, Katie cheer on their daughters.

You can find the book at our store or visit Take Their Breath Away.

A Look Inside

5 Wardrobe Essentials

According to Greg & Robby Miller

A PERFECT BLUE BLAZER - Try a two-button, side-vented model with functional buttonholes. It can take you from business to dinner and beyond, and it always looks good.

A FINE PAIR OF LOAFERS - Loafers are at home with everything from a coat and tie to shorts and a linen shirt. And I see far too many guys wearing suit shoes with khakis.

A SOLID CHARCOAL-GRAY SUIT - You're going to look sharp, and it is very versatile. You can wear it with all kinds of shirts: solids, stripes, checks-whatever you like.

A KILLER PAIR OF CUFF LINKS - Clunky cuff links are all wrong. Try something in sterling and enamel-and avoid anything that's approaching the size of a half-dollar.

A CLASSIC TUXEDO - You may not think you have places to wear a tuxedo, but lots of guys go to weddings. For the right event, nothing comes close to your own tuxedo.
